but the mass of a black hole is not infinite only it's density is, so it will have the mass of the remnant of the star that went super nova, so it wouldn't stop time inside of it only slowing down incredibly. and black holes decay because of hawking radiation so something must be able to escape the event horizon (id's guess it's neutrinos ) and why would you approach the speed of light when you reach the event horizon? i understand that the gravitational pull would be immense but it couldn't pull you to the speed of light....

and the event horizon is only the point at which light cannot escape the gravitational pull of the black hole..... that doesn't mean that time stops there

Black holes do evaporate (Due to Quantum Tunneling and other esoteric behavior of particles in a black hole). Granted, the evaporation takes hundreds of billions or trillions of years, but it happens none the less.

There was some concern that CERN would produce miniblack holes which would devour the earth, but the blackholes would be so tiny that they would evaporate beforee they could 'chow down' on surrounding matter.

It's not necessarily about time stopping, but more about time dilation. Depending on the reference frame, time appears to slow down to such a small 'velocity' that its progression is indeterminable.

WE COULD be living inside a black hole. This head-spinning idea is one cosmologist's conclusion based on a modification of Einstein's equations of general relativity that changes our picture of what happens at the core of a black hole.

In an analysis of the motion of particles entering a black hole, published in March, Nikodem Poplawski of Indiana University in Bloomington showed that inside each black hole there could exist another universe (Physics Letters B, DOI: 10.1016/j.physletb.2010.03.029). "Maybe the huge black holes at the centre of the Milky Way and other galaxies are bridges to different universes," Poplawski says. If that is correct - and it's a big "if" - there is nothing to rule out our universe itself being inside a black hole.

That is great material for a scifi, maybe with recursive sub-universes that link to the parent only to have the parent link to another parent and so forth.

If I remember correctly, the particle moving near light speeds appear to stop to observers moving slower, time for the particle passes as normal, hence the time dilation effect? So if we were to watch a particle approach the event horizon it would appear to slow down and then stop as it reaches the EH, but for the same particle it would continue to fall.
